The American Idol final two performance show kicked off like it was a championship boxing match. An announcer introduced David “Sugarfoot” Cook and David “Babyface” Archuleta, who were both decked out in boxing gear. After the grand introduction for the two finalists, the familiar face of Ryan Seacrest appeared to further pump up the crowd.
Seacrest announced that the two Davids would sing three songs each and that
David Archuleta won the coin toss and had selected to go second. In the first round, the songs were selected by Clive Davis. For his first song, David Cook sang “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” Randy Jackson said, “I think it was a great way to start off this duel of 2007.” Paula Abdul said, “You may not have found what you’re looking for, but we have found David Cook.”
Simon Cowell said, “I thought it was phenomenal.”
